I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable. Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes. Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

UPDATE 2: Petro is indeed not backing down. Colombia will impose 25% tariffs on all goods imported from the US. He also directs Colombia's foreign trade minister to explore other countries to export to, and promises to support local exporters hurt by US tariffs. The trade wars have begun.

The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, announced that he will not allow U.S. military planes carrying Colombian migrants to land in Colombia. 🍿
A second country blocks deportation flights via military aircraft (Mexico did it first, but US sources say it was just an admin issue). Colombia has until now routinely accepted regular US deportation flights. Petro now demands “a protocol for dignified treatments” before flights can resume.
Seems to me if ICE really wanted to do mass immigration raids they’d go to the factory farms, not urban areas such as Chicago. But mass raids on factory farms would likely put our nation’s food production to a halt, so I guess this is more a fear and optics game.
This is becoming absurd—federal employees are now being told to remove pronouns from their email signatures. We will always stand by our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, no matter how many things we’re asked to delete or change. Inclusivity is at the core of who we are.
