I live in DC, right at the Columbia Heights Metro, where ICE has made a habit of showing up in force to nab moped drivers, vendors, and people just using the metro. When you call what we're going through "a distraction" you're saying you don't value our humanity as much as an imaginary white swing.

A very basic test of Trump's justification for sending armed officials into DC (to reduce crime) is whether its residents feel safer or not. They do not. They are not going to public spaces. They are not going to restaurants. They are more afraid of the occupiers than risks from crime.

NEW—Earlier this evening agents from ICE/other fed agencies were outside Rhode Island Ave metro in DC asking people exiting the station for their IDs, per someone who experienced it. When the person presented their Real ID license, an agent said that wasn't sufficient. Luckily they had secondary ID.
