I attended an afterwork event tonight that featured like 1,000 people, maybe more. I found someone seated alone, eating pizza. So I sat down and struck up conversation with her. Turned out, this was the COO of a very, very well-known company. Rewarded for doing the right thing, introducing myself.

If you ask someone a question, and they struggle to answer it, and then you restate the question the same way as before, and they look at you with confusion, it’s not their fault for being unable to answer the question as intended.

One thing us folks with poster’s souls need to understand is that part of the engine that drove text based social media so high is that a lot of people just want to consume an algorithmically generated feed of stimulus and there wasn’t a video version of that before. Interactivity was ancillary.

Impossible to describe how much the internet made Six degrees of Kevin Bacon so much less compelling as a game worth discussing. It feels at this moment that due to LLMs the rest of the fun in our society, peer to peer, to figure stuff out and to discuss ideas and items together, is fading out, too.

I had a very unpleasant experience this afternoon at a coffee shop while on a work call. Another patron who appeared to be unhoused was threatening me, banging his hand on my table. I tried to ignore it, but at a certain point I couldn't. The barista tossed him from the store. I guess buyer beware?

I think a lot about Fall 2020 when neighbors came up with all kinds of methods and reasons they could and would cut the line for vaccines, and while permission doled out amid desperation to leave home again was not itself a drastic change in society, many have continued to take similar liberties.

I asked someone today why she uses an AI notetaker. She said it's helpful for calls with founders, when she has to ask basic questions and wants to remain in the moment, not jotting down notes. She said prior to AI notetakers she'd invite interns to the call, to capture the basic information. Oh.

I promise I'm a good person, I wanted the hat for my kid, I felt it was being handed to me despite the shouts, I thought about it all differently when I discovered I'd been videotaped and had gone viral, and I didn't particularly enjoy how that felt to be ridiculed by professional tennis players.
