something that drives me nuts is how legacy media will write that "scholars question legality" of a trump administration action when there is not a shred of evidence that it is in fact legal. it leaves room for the federal government to manufacture a legal justification when literally none exists.
It is still really bad that they're floating it. A big concern with the homelessness/involuntary commitment executive order was that it could clear the way for involuntary commitment of trans folks. This trial balloon, defining trans ppl as unstable/dangerous shows how real this threat is.
The Daily Wire reporting that the DOJ is looking for ways to strip trans people of gun ownership is quite bad. It's definitely possible to overstate how bad it is. These sorts of trial balloons often go nowhere. Not At all clear DOJ has any ability to ban guns for anyone even if they want to.
