I think that was pretty common, I was very lucky, even though no-one in my immediate family was even vaguely creative, they saw it as a possible 'escape' for me in many ways, and it was, and still is. x

Oh, wow! I just discovered this artist, Darrell Wakelam, and his book, Art Shaped. I save bits and bobs to do little crafts with, but this is Art! I'm off to dig through my stash and watch his YouTube channel.

I actually think a lot of people come full circle and end up closer to the character and interests they had as a young child. With creative people I think that's probably even more common. 🙂

I had a fabulous day at Lyme Regis Museum today, where over 150 kids came along to make wax-resist ammonites. Mums, dads, teens, and younger kids joined in, but as usual it was the under 7's who showed us how it's done. Two of the pieces here were done by under 5's. 😮 #edusky www.darrellwakelam.com

😂 loved these, I particularly liked the Satellite, they really looked at the images and tried to make al of the little elements, most of which we were guessing what they did! 😆👍
Art is always a great link up with science, in years past artists 'were' scientists, and scientists had to be artists, so it always works well.
It's lovely to look back sometimes. We did these in just 4 days, it was the end of a project for the kids, they'd learned loads and been on a trip to the Space Centre in Leicester, so they were very fired up. The 'learning' involved is far greater than the sum of what you can see here, I was amazed.
Going back through this year's photos allows me to edit and file work so I can locate it, but it also reminds me of some of the stand-out projects. The Year 5's from Summerhill Primary did this in January. I remember how excited they were by the topic. 😁 www.darrellwakelam.com #edusky
