Obviously, in order to manufacture anything you require access to the global supply chain. Materials, parts, equipment. The illegal and unconstitutional as well as stupid tariffs on tariffs on the things a manufacturer needs harm the manufacturer. That is why factories are closing/workers laid off.
Not sure if it's obvious how bananas this is. The usual tariff argument is that it helps producers and hurts consumers (by more). But Trump's tariffs don't even help (most) producers. It's genuinely difficult to design a tariff regime that helps less than 4% of manufacturers!
