Joni had finished her set, walked off stage and through the campsite but has now run back to do an encore and is out of breath so has apologised to the crowd. Proper gigs in the newly begun 70s.
Most people are trying to avoid the abyss on Sunday night so fair play for tackling it head on with a big slab of brooding gothic nihilism. Puts my Sunday night cosy TV watching approach to shame.

Stumbled across Joni Mitchell from IOW festival 1970 on sky arts. A massive crowd, I'm surprised they could hear her at the back. She just asked for more volume. Fortunately the camera is nearly always on her with none of that crowd cutaway shot nonsense you get nowadays.

Tried some of the weird slowdive album that no one ever listens to during a dead of night attempt to get back to sleep. Not sure it helped. Pygmalion by slowdive.
Out of nowhere I have an earworm of mid 80s brat pack film theme St Elmos fire. Now I will have to play it to make it go away, which is a bit troubling. Soft rock classic coming up.

Thanks for the replies about bands who share lead vocals. Still amazed this is so uncommon. But we have The Beatles, oasis, BRMC, joy zipper, ride, teenage fanclub, Ringo deathstarr, go betweens, delgados, voice of the beehive, wolf parade. Now to think up a catchy name to describe such groups.

Oasis sprung to mind but I thought Noel only sang a few as I lost interest during the second album. Turns out he sang on quite a lot. The AI search tells me 24%. So not Beatles level split but a good shout.
I'll take your word for it. You could argue the Beatles were shared vocals in many instances.

Random thought but why have there been no other groups since the Beatles that have split lead vocals on songs roughly 50/50 across their output? Or have there been and I missed it.
I really liked their early stuff. Even though I'm too old for it. There was so much variety early on I was interested to see what direction they'd take. But they don't make music for me and seem very genuine. Check out their "pool sessions" on you tube from a few years back, great fun.
Must be the day for this album. I posted similar earlier. I like their first album but diminishing returns for me after it. This is major label polished with the grunge edges completely gone now. I like a female led guitar band doing well so all the best to them. I'm not the target audience.
Or an iron maiden fan and the prisoner is their favourite track. Yes the song is about the TV series.

Whilst I loved the debut and its associated singles as it reminded me of belly/breeders/pixies, I didn't really like the follow up albums. This is a bit too glam/mainstream for me but they are a very likeable band and I wish them continuing success. Wolf Alice: The Clearing
I can't be done with his funky stuff but his acoustic and laid back albums are well worth the time.

Big shout out to the British Sign Language people who had the unenviable task of interpreting Billy Corgan's lyrics for 2 hours last night. I don't have hearing issues but they certainly caught people's attention. Here's a pic of them early on underneath big billy.

Gig tickets are going full circle. Here is the ticket in the app but as everyone else will be also using the network it might not work. So add a static version to Google wallet. Better still here is a pdf that will work. Maybe we will send you a paper ticket next time...

Only George could get away with it. Doesn't he need new shoes at some point and sends a lackey out to get them? To be fair to my teens the London crowd shots show the drabness of everyday non Beatles folk.
Had to explain to my teens that those were real 60s clothes colours and the film hadn't been colourised and it wasn't just a Beatles costume thing. Also none of them are brothers but they get that now.
Listening to this again. Like the stereo mindgame album it washes over me and I can't remember individual songs or lyrics afterwards but it's an enjoyable afternoon listening. Daughter: Middle Farm sessions.

This was released late July and I'm just catching up. It's rather lovely. Blankenberge : Decisions. A Russian shoegaze band if you didn't know.
I will revisit. With 25 years hindsight it may be better than I thought.
There is a great version of it that they did in lockdown. Probably still available on you tube. I didn't actually get this album at the time.
I was such a big fan of theirs until this album which I didn't like at all. After that I felt it was very patchy output but I got back into them recently. I don't think I've played this since it came out.

Yes it's good. The EPs in the run up to madra were better than some of the tracks on the album. I often gig solo and would be the weird old guy at the back of the teeny fans I imagine. I did notice they were touring.
Change of mood. Now playing the tracks released so far from the new Newdad album: Altar. They have reverted to a 3 piece and I'm far too old to see them live, but hopefully this will be as good as the last album.

Ending my maiden long tail with this great metal concept album. I still remember the joy when the singles from it crashed into the top 5 meaning that the smashie and nicey radio 1 DJs had to awkwardly introduce them on ToTP. Iron maiden: Seventh son of a seventh son.
Same here it just reached 28. I'm only consoled by the fact the outside thermometer is showing 32.

Iron Maiden. Bringing out the 15 year old in all of us. Exceeded my expectations and the number of costume changes would rival any west end show. Here's the crew meeting their fate during the spooky slow bit in Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. Coleridge would have approved.
