(Yes, I understand class length preference can often depend on discipline; visual art, phys ed, science labs, etc, may benefit from longer ones, foreign language, math, perhaps even shorter ones than 50 min, etc., ymmv.)

Retail jobs were better in the 90s and 00s before corporations cut staff down to skeleton crews with generic job titles who have to fulfill online orders on top of running everything else. If you work retail now, you're doing the job of 6 people in the 90s for the same pay (adjusted for inflation).

Why I thought of this: after years of enduring block scheduling I'm back to a traditional schedule and it is so liberating from a human perspective. Seeing more focus from kids, more engagement, and it collides beautifully with a goal of mine to reduce screen time in class whenever possible.

Born in 1873 Maori scholar Mākereti Papakura is believed to be the first indigenous woman to matriculate at University of Oxford. She enrolled in 1922 to read Anthropology at Pitt Rivers Museum but tragically died just before graduating. She will be awarded a posthumous degree in Oxford next week.

Almost certainly illegal and likely to be struck down in court. Congress has only authorized the government to set fees to recover the cost of adjudicating the application. There is no statutory authority to impose fees designed to limit the use of a visa.

If a student copied and pasted text from an AI site or app and claimed it as their own writing, it would be treated no differently in my class than if they copied and pasted text from elsewhere on the web and claimed it as their own writing. (Of course people may use AI for other uses than that.)

It appears Instructure has removed the capacity to delete old courses in Canvas. In many cases (depending on institutional settings) those course are also uneditable. But they definitely aren't stealing our IP and using it to train algorithms.
