I want all teachers going on maternity leave, medical leave or any other leave to remember that is not your job to support the sub while you are out. They should be contacting the administrator and the admin should be supporting the sub. You are OFF. That means not working on school.

We absolutely did 😭😭 Long story short, we had car troubles had the car towed to the shop but then my husband and I said we’d try them to get home instead of a damn Lyft. Thankful the kids were at my mom’s but I wouldn’t have gotten on the scooter if they weren’t!

We don’t allow cell phones at all any more during the school day. One thing we’ve done is promoting use of the office phone when a kid expresses a need to call home. We teach them how to use it and make it clear that it’s available for them, without an adult standing over listening to their convo.
This - stay away from them. I used to be around a lot of negative colleagues and Twitter is where I found a lot of support I needed. Not in my building.
