I asked for donations in my newsletter today, and apparently that was enough to make more people unsubscribe from it than subscribed to it. It’s the first time my subscriber number is LESS at the end of the day, rather than MORE. I guess some people really don’t like being asked for money.

It's not often I get to do that in Figma. I can go to bed happy now.
I've decided to draw a giant bucket of testicles instead. That feels like a much more valuable use of my time.
Now that I've found them, I've lost all desire to draw a comic strip about them. I think I might go stare at the ceiling for a while instead.
I tell you what, though, searching 'AI comic strip' on Twitter is fucking depressing.
I wanted to do a comic strip about all those beige AI comics you see everywhere. Except of course now that I actually want to find them, I cannot find the bastards anywhere.

I hadn’t heard that before! What an absolute crime. I had proper goosebumps hearing it in the cinema for the first time. It is such a wonderfully singular work of art, I love it so much. Have you seen his film ‘Last and First Men’? His score for that was similarly otherworldly and gorgeous.
Max Richter has just one track on the soundtrack! Jóhann Jóhannsson composed the main score! 🙂
I absolutely adore Arrival. Agreed, it was a very different experience second time round. The soundtrack is absolutely stunning too.

A year in the life of...
Besides a couple of moments, it's fairly light on gore and the like. There's a lot more ghost action than 'monster' action. I think it generally has a reputation as 'My First Horror Movie' because it is relatively tame (must be the Spielberg touch), but I do really really love it.

The 2025 version of this would be Mickey in combat fatigues and a face mask, right?
It's right up there with the Babadook for a film/show where you desperately want the supernatural monster to show up just to break the unbearable tension of their actual reality.
Watched 'Poltergeist' with our 10 year old, and she loved it. (Had to cover her eyes for the face melty bit, though)

I ordered a full rack of ribs at TGI Fridays and got 7 ribs. 7. A full rack is supposed to be about 12. When I asked for more, they brought 3 more ribs. It felt like a fuck you from the kitchen. Granted it was my fault for eating at TGI Fridays.

25 years with no problems on that front. UI design, particularly these days, is not rocket science. I’m perfectly capable of talking to developers to figure out what is and isn’t possible. Much like maths, my brain is not wired to work with code, I am a visually based person.
