Writing is super important. I use it as a thinking tool and I think it is a very good thinking tool. But I found that particular way of expressing the usefulness of writing to be really annoying, mostly because of how obviously wrong it is!

It's been years since I've watched our native football, but there's something comforting and nostalgic about seeing fans on here snarky and irritated as usual. 🏈 Makes me long for the days of watching the Vikings lose. Not that they win now, of course, I just don't watch anymore.🙃

Potentially making some progress here, it turns out Steam do offer a collective/ institutional licensing option for PCs which universities can use in their own lab or library! Not all games will then allow you to buy a collective license but some do, and it's a step forward
Manga Number 16: Spacewalking With You. Mangaka sure like writing about outcasts in astronomy clubs, huh? Anyway, this one was heartwarming. The art is a bit loosey-goosey for my tastes, but the writing is quite nice. Very empathetic and good natured, especially regarding its neurodivergent lead.
Manga Number 15: Pink Candy Kiss. A #Yuri pick this time, though it's unfortunately not the best the genre has to offer. It avoids being super trashy like Netsuzuo Trap or Citrus, thank god, but the art is inconsistent and the writing is just not good. Extremely guilty of "tell, don't show".
Pretty tired myself. Haven't slept well in quite a while now.
It's pretty disappointing how this political moment has caused so many people, from left to the center alike, to go from "Everyone is deserving of care and dignity" to fistfights over whether we should kill trans people or old people to win the next election. The answer is neither, you lunkheads.

Y'know, I'm no Hollow Knight fan, but it is striking that once Silksong got it's release date, many people were like "oh, it's so great that they took their time and worked safely", while with Wolverine it's like "WHY HAVEN'T THEY FINISHED IT NOW?!? I'LL KILL THEM IF I DON'T GET IT."
Y'know, I don't normally go out of my way to watch bad movies unless they have historical value for research, but....I might watch Megalopolis. After so many years of hearing talking heads preach about how ambitious, auteur cinema will deliver us, seeing this might be cathartic.
We failed the people of Afghanistan over and over and eventually abandoned them to a heinous, hideously evil regime. We couldn't figure out how to help so we flailed around for years and then just ran the fuck away. It should be a stain on our reputation forever.
Actually, thinking about this a bit more, I believe that our failure in Afghanistan will be maybe the most shameful thing I will carry with me regarding our nation. Because it wasn't just a case of a long process of trying to figure out how to live up to our ideals. It was an *Abject Failure*.
I think what really pisses me off about this the most is that most of the people who were the most loud and angry about this haven't thought about Afghanistan again in years, even as it's suffered under the Taliban *again*. None of them cared about Afghans in the slightest, just our own image.

It can be hard to take a lot of the political accounts seriously when they make such bold proclamations about what is needed to right things while being entirely ignorant or unconcerned about anything that's happening elsewhere. It's a perennial problem in American politics that feels acute here. /3
Unless it's about Palestine or Ukraine, most folk on here don't engage with international issues except as fodder for some smary bad faith joke about *our* current situation. There are a few specialist accounts here and there, but for the most part, this place feels self-consciously Anglo. /2

It's so great to see more people getting into Helldivers. Easily my favorite multiplayer experience, and it's been a constant source of fun in these tough times. Highly recommend it to anybody who likes sci-fi shooters.

Yeah, I second this. Even though I think the romantic side of the Batman characters have long been the weakest, I'm not *fundamentally* opposed to romantic stories with them. I just don't think they *need* a love interest all the time, especially when so often it never goes anywhere.

You see it sometimes with gun based combat, where as the durability wears down, the gun starts to jam or the sights get misaligned, ect. Presents more gameplay challenges and feels more organic. With melee weapons, they usually behave the same way until they break, so it can feel more arbitrary.
I think the people of the #FatalFrame universe just need to systematically hunt down every Shinto priest and shrine maiden, as all they seem to do is perpetuate vast injustice (like in the real world, hur hur) and cause horrific hauntings. Also, their chants are creepy.

It's so funny to look at Luke's long string of weird romantic relationships and sired children in Legends and compared it to Canon where he flirts with girls sometimes but is mostly like "I really have other things to do, also I'm kinda shy, sorry."

This was a specialized job, right? For a federal employer? And your whole team was let go, if I'm remembering right(correct me if I'm wrong). That doesn't happen every day. It's natural to be taken aback from that,and trying to just "move on" without reorienting is a bad idea.
I always like weapon durability in theory, but in practice I can't think of any examples where it wasn't kinda a pain to deal with. Maybe Dead Island 2? It was at least not unbearable there. I think part of the problem is it it's rarely dynamic. You just lower the durability until it breaks.

Quick #comic post: tried out Martin Manhunter: Identity, by writer Steve Orlando and artist Riley Rossmo, but didn't stick with it long. The art is very colorful and stylized but felt a bit *too* chaotic for me, while the dialog just felt....off. A close but no cigar rating from me.
Overall, while I can easily see this entry being overshadowed by a potential third (numbered) game, I still think it's a solid attempt at a follow-up that has it's own charms.
I think the biggest improvement is in the writing. The first game already had a good story, but this one is more emotionally complicated and allows for better showings for Mary Jane and Miles. It even manages to make Kraven and Venom, two characters I think are dull, actually fun. /4
Gameplay wise, it's mostly the same format as the original with some tweaks and adjustments. Some I like, like the more organic inclusion of puzzles and minigames,the new enemy types (particularly the symbiotes) and the bosses. Some I didn't, like the smaller variety of gadgets and abilities. /3
Performance wise there were more hiccups than before, but nothing really serious. Aesthetically it still looks and sounds great-not a huge upgrade but there wasn't much *to* upgrade. Harry and Kraven's actors both give great performances. /2
