I'm disgusted by all of them (except maybe 5 female Dems), especially Dem leadership. I have no idea if the protest non-voters could have helped avoid this dumpster fire (probably, don't get me started), but I damn sure know Washington Dems could have if only they weren't as useless as wet matches.

Texas resident here. The reason you would do this is that you get a giant savings on your real estate taxes if a property is registered as your homestead. It is kind of a pain in the ass to file the paper work to claim a property as your homestead. So this kind of thing doesn’t happen by accident.
