I have a soft spot in my heart for herons. I may have to learn how to do colorwork. Your work is beautiful, as always.

I enjoy living in nearby Phoebus. I go to the Fort often for walks.

Won a round of yarn chicken finishing a cowl, then won a round of long tail cast on chicken for the matching ear band. The ear band is a remake - it was too loose. Hope to get that finished AND the ends woven in so I can have a post for Friday.

I'd love to be added. I really only do shorebirds and crows, because of where I walk.

I agree. I was exceedingly disappointed in the ending. And now that I've learned that Gaiman is slime, I can't even enjoy re-reading the book.

You might want to loosen your tension on the row ending chain stitches. I think the curve may be caused by them being tight.

When I made an afghan that was squares sewn together, I wove in ends as I went. Didn't keep it up on later projects, though, and now have two not quite finished shawls because of the ends to weave in. I'm trying to get to those today.

Donna Williams More (@dmariewms.bsky.social) reply parent
I just finished a shawl that should have had 8 ends to weave in because it was 4 skeins. It was 40 ends to weave in because the yarn kept breaking. I still haven't finished weaving in ends and I got very disheartened and didn't enjoy myself. There is also threat of breakage when you wear it.

Mine is grown with kids of his own, so I have time where I'm not responsible for anyone but myself. What I haven't had except for the year I had my own apartment before I got married, is time alone. First I lived with my parents, then roomed with others, then got married. Always with someone.

Choose one of your hobbies and find the Bluesky community for it. Looking at the pictures others post, offering support, answering questions, complimenting, etc., all lead you to a better feeling of involvement. Maybe that will spark an idea. Maybe someone will post an invitation to a group IRL.

Embroider a flower, butterfly, or something over the join, mending and decorating the shawl. Then wear it. Around the house, on errands, just every day stuff. It is beautiful, and one failed join doesn't ruin it, it makes it so you aren't worried about getting the first snag or tear.
