I predict it will have something to do with doctors routinely recommending tylenol over ibuprofen (and other NSAIDs) in pregnancy because it's safer.

Hi. I know I've said this before, but it bears repeating: we have to be able to criticize Mark Carney without living in fear that doing so will help Poilievre or weaken Canada. He is our Prime Minister. Out of anyone, he deserves to be watched and critiqued. We should all be dying on this hill.

The Glucose Goddess is everywhere. She advocates for the wearing of a continuous glucose monitor even if you don't have diabetes, and she sells a supplement. Is she medicalizing normalcy? My latest for @mcgilloss.bsky.social.

Health influencers like the Glucose Goddess are a dime a dozen. They break free of the dullness of academia with vibrant branding, themed colours, and aspirational photo shoots. They drum up excitement with a wall of anecdotes from anonymous people who say that they changed their lives. They get book deals, and TV shows, and speaking engagements, and ambassadorships with Vichy to promote “holistic health,” and online courses where you too can become “Glucose Revolution certified” by paying a thousand dollars to watch six hours of online classes. And, of course, they have a supplement to sell you. Inchauspé’s is the Anti-Spike Formula—no relation to COVID-19’s spike protein. She claims it can reduce your blood glucose spikes by up to 40% with its combination of vegetable extracts, cinnamon, lemon extract, and white mulberry leaf extract. Like the glucose monitor she endorses, the formula is sold as a subscription, this one just shy of USD 30 a month.

Three times/day is hard to remember for most people, it usually means taking meds with you to work. And this is a nasal spray, which many people find gross. And also for prevention, not treatment, which means even less incentive to remember it in the middle of the day.

Not that the racism isn't also horrific but the tweets that blame the victim for her own death because she got pregnant unintentionally and then sought an abortion are too disgusting to share IMO.

Linda tweet, Aug 28: The two separate news stories out today about young women dying of sepsis in 🇨🇦hospital are enraging. Both of these stories had nothing to do with
