A case in point - I spent way too much time developing a fan-canon reason why Klingons look different in Star Trek Discovery. Specifically because I was inspired by Star Trek Adventures explanation of their ships.
As someone who spends a lot of time exploring (and often reconciling) continuity in the franchises that I love, ai found Eddie’s talk about continuity and canon fascinating.
Believe me, the Technomancers are not that subtle. They paid good money for those cyborgs-with-chain guns dammit and they are going to make use of them…

Yeah, even though on some level playing your AP on an IP you control would be preferable in the long term, the business graveyard is littered with those which changed their brands, too much, and/or too soon.
It’s frustrating because instead of just walking away and enjoying something else, they just have to let you know how much they hate the thing you like. I don’t mind an opinion but if it’s going to just be some flavour of “it sucks” then spare me.
Yeah, it was understandable transition from Warcraft initially but as time went on it felt really constraining. I had hoped that as the overarching plot brought them together we’d might have a shift but Battle for Azeroth dashed my hopes, which not surprisingly was when I ultimately dipped out.
Their ability to encapsulate years of continuity, file off the rough edges, while still bringing us something fresh and interesting is something only Young Justice (at least the first couple of seasons) on the DC side was able to match.
Infinity War was a waste of time. A lot of padding masquerading as plot, for an ending that was basically the first act of any other movie.
I loved it. I could only sum it up as if John Wick used fists and melee weapons, but got punched in the face a whole lot more.
1. Order of Hermes (I am a old Ars Magica fan) 2. Void Engineer 3. Dragons of the East (I don’t care if they were retconned, the Elemental Dragons were cool)
Overall, I liked what came after Aliens, but I am not sure I needed them as a fan of the franchise. Alien 3 seemed like a great stepping off point.
(While I am enjoying the back and forth, I don't want this to go past fun banter, which I worry it might already have. Just in case it still hasn't, I think I am just going to stop.)
If not you, then who? Who introduced the notion, conceptualizes the technology, funds the research, and then molds the consensus? Because if not, that just adds to the failures. You have failed to purge the Reality Deviants, eliminate the Traditions, and now shepherd technological advancement?
AI? Robotics that serve no other legitimate purpose but remove human labour. Which again, wouldn’t be an issue if the Syndicate gave a shit about the people that it displaced. Or housing and basic needs. Maybe spending less on HITMarks and Cyber-tooth Tigers…
If so, then why are you making the same mistakes? Humanity have repeatedly told you they don’t want your shiny baubles when they can’t meet basic needs. Yet you keep trying to market that shit. At least the Progenitors understood the assignment, in between making their genetic horrors.

My thoughts right now in WWE. Why watch the big events when really nothing of consequence happens? I am not watching a multi-day, multi-hour show to see some potentially big stuff happen in the main events, but otherwise just status quo.

Absolutely great news. Though I fear a new edition, I also realize that with all the issues over the last few years, it might need a fresh start. I am okay with that as long as setting continuity is maintained.

I’m torn - I love M&M and very curious about the new edition…but a 4e basically sets me back to having to convert 15 years of material, much like I had to convert from 2e (and 1e).

When I ran my Young Justice: Avengers game I made the formation of Krakoa, the mutant nation, a part of the evolving plot. Though Marvel has abandoned it, I am not going follow suit in my sequel campaign. In YJA2050, Krakoa lives.

Yeah. I can stand stand-alone bestiaries and GM guides, but the core needs to have enough to run the game without needing those books. I shouldn’t have to wait for the Monster Manual in March, to fully use the Players Manual I bought in January.

When we were originally designing #AfterTheWarRPG, I really wanted to dedicate more time to developing the cultures for each of the origins. While it didn't make it into the original book, Songfall Survivors is a lovely new home for it. It explains the social norms of the humans and aliens.

I hear a lot of people wishing that the style of storytelling in Andor become Star War's default. I don't. I am happy for the things Andor brought to the franchise, and I'd like to see some more experimentation of themes. However, I don't want to give up the classic space opera vibe of Star Wars.

One of the great things about the Star Wars franchise right now, much like the MCU, is I am seeing a lot of shows with varying tones. From the grittiness of Andor, do the whimsical Skeleton Crew, its neat to see Star Wars being treated as a robust setting rather than variations of the same theme.

No spoilers here. But so far, season two of Andor has fixed a lot of the issues I had with the first season. I like the pacing better and it seems to be dovetailing nice into established canon. Though, there is a limit on how adult I want this show to be, and its crossing a line at one point...

It’s sucks - I had to switch to digital-only sometime ago, for space reasons, but sometimes a PDF isn’t as cool as a nice, hardcover book.
Does anyone just make gaming shit for fun, never intending to sell it or even use it? I’ve been building two settings for Trinity Continuum, one during WW2 and one in 1971 NYC. It’s been fun expanding on the TC setting as well as weaving in your own material in the process.

This. I learned this by accident - starting with a banal concept and then extrapolating the setting between sessions. - by the end I had a mountain of material, 75% being stuff that the players would likely never interact with but I thought was important to the setting.
