I thought it was gorgeous. But I was not prepared for the constant sexual aspect. (I should have been, I’ve read the novel.) Really wish I hadn’t gone with my teen children. I think they might be traumatized from having been seated next to their mom.
I don’t think anyone is ignoring world events. I think many people have simply decided they aren’t going to learn about them by watching the same channels that blew smoke up their ass for the last four years.

The difference between the left and right is that we don’t see our elected leaders as saviors without fault and we don’t serve up whataboutisms. Biden makes mistakes, but he has the Americans backs, even a basketball player’s. Trump dissed our entire DOJ and you guys just shrug and let it happen.
I think one of Trump's lowest moments (out of so many to choose from) was when he stood on a world stage and said he trusted Putin more than our DOJ. My god, it boggles the mind. The fact that he's back in office is enraging.

P.S. I'm not discounting iatethelastgummy's experience. My mom has voted R her entire life and I couldn't break into her disinfo bubble to convince her otherwise. She's still a very loving force in my life. But I know MANY families are not that way & cutting people off becomes necessary. 💔

My dad is a Vietnam vet who began using the VA for his healthcare only a few years ago. He loves that the government is helping him and the emotional support he receives there. If they make good on their plans to gut $1B, he’ll feel the power of his Trump vote. I’m sad for him, but angry as well.

I know it defies logic, but you’ve seen Trump do it. He repeats an obvious lie until his followers believe it. For instance, he keeps saying there was “total exoneration” in the “Russia hoax.” There absolutely was not. But he successfully kept his followers from believing the Mueller report.
