I don't think anything would change for me except the amount I would leave on my week's off to see people for a day bc 3 hrs roundtrip doable in a day. I have friends/family id actually love to go see but 8hrs of driving is a lot and planes are such a hassle.

Enough when I was going to pharmacy school 150 miles away. I called and stayed in touch but wasn't physically there.
My mom's side of the family made it super easy. I haven't seen any of them since my nana died in 2018 and they tried to write me out of the will bc I got married and would get more money overall than my cousins. They thought I didn't participate enough in family bc I didn't visit
I read a lot, I have a bunch of plants that I throw myself into. Video games are good. I also have a bunch of ongoing art projects. While I try to get away from consumerism, going to small stores/restaurants/fairs has also been helpful. Keeping myself physically moving is also helpful
This applies to family, not just friends. Ask me how I know 🙃
