NY, ATL, and the GSV has significant disruptions to their active roster because of injury and/or foreign commitments. All are going to be playoff teams. Indy has taken a hit to their depth since the all-star break, but Boston, Mitchell, Howard and Hull have all played every game.
The Wings were a younger team with a first year coach. The Fever are a more veteran team with an accomplished coach. Not a good comparison.

She didn’t sabotage anything. She asked out, and they eventually granted her request. She exercised her leverage.
She’s 38 years old. I think she followed her coach to Indy, but did not like the team dynamic, and didn’t want to spend one of her final seasons on a team that she didn’t enjoy. Indy was able to waive her large contract and she was able to join the team that she wanted to join.
I think that reason was in great measure her $200,000 salary, which she was willing to waive to join PHX and AT, the team of her choosing after being waived, not the only team that would accept her. And, she’s playing well there.
She has a history of being prickly, but she is playing well in PHX, especially vs the Fever, which has got to sting.
I believe that any trade would have been difficult at least in part because her high price tag on an expiring deal. Once she was waived, she accept the veteran minimum to finish the season on her first choice, Phoenix. I think she chose Ind to follow her coach, but didn’t like the team dynamic.

Yeah. I did the Spotrac thing. It is crazy (and smart) how few players are under contract. I think the top players will seek out, or stay with, the best coaches and the next tier will seek out those players. Every GM should have a deluxe condo in Miami rented for January and February.

Roughly 40 #WNBA players will still be under contract with their current team. That’s 3 per team, and they all almost entirely players from the last two drafts and/or role players. Predicting anything for next season based on this one is tantamount to reading tea leaves.
If anyone wants to get an idea of what a free-for-all the #WNBA off-season is going to be, visit the Spotrac website. Click on the contracts tab, and look at active contracts. Click on the End column to see how few contracts extend beyond this season. You can do so by Team as well.
Biggest #WNBA culprits. Way too many illegal screens called. Players intentionally running into them and flopping. Too many fouls on bigs vs guards who dive after layups. Not enough O fouls called for dislodging defenders with a shoulder. Too much playacting face contact getting upgraded.
If fans and announcers, on one hand, want to applaud the players on their teams for doing so as being ‘crafty’, they can’t really complain when calls are blown in these cases. And if it is somehow not penalized, the problem will continue. #WNBA
I have watched a LOT of #WNBA games this season. Of course the league isn’t going to have the top referees basketball has to offer right now, but with all of the flopping, diving, playacting, embellishing, and selling fouls, it is a very difficult job.
Probably not. But that 1-1-1 First Round makes everyone vulnerable with one slip up at home then facing elimination on the road.
Wheeler should definitely be on the Irrational Self-Confidence 1st Team. I was thinking, I don’t know how this would work over long minutes, but how about some full court pressing with this team?
The Storm just can’t be trusted in close games and seem to have no home court advantage. Like anyone in the playoffs, they could steal a first round series just because of the format, but I cannot see them beating any of the top four in a five game series. #WNBA

It was just weird. She was overlooking fouls against her own team and going on and on about Indiana. Burton got a clear path foul called on her after Mitchell clearly fouled her to take the ball as the replay showed and crickets.
It was crazy. The Mystics announcers were doing it early in the year as well.
I still think the Storm are individually talented enough to contend, but their lack of consistency and performance in close games is not at that level. #WNBA

I think the Lynx are the favorite, but not a big one, with the Aces, Liberty, Dream and Mercury all equal contenders - heavily dependent on health and matchups. And, since round 1 is a three game 1-1-1 setup, any of the five could get bounced in the first round by any of the other three. #WNBA

I don’t think that it’s coincidental that #WNBA teams 8-13 have 1st time WNBA head coaches. The only 1st timer to break through is Smesko with Atlanta, who inherited a veteran laden team, including free agents Jones, Griner, and Walker-Kimbrough.
