All my old games are in boxes in the loft, but the PS1 cases are probably the only ones I’d put on a shelf again for aesthetic purposes
Unpopular opinion, but I miss the consistent spine design on the PAL cases. White on black, and black on grey for the platinum version - always looked clean and classy on a shelf

Just mopping up some last bits of exploration then will be going for the DLC. Genuinely found some of the early game unexpectedly terrifying (the first trip to Giants Deep was brutal!!) but I loved the whole “following breadcrumbs” gameplay
OMG just rolled credits on Outer Wilds (I don’t get chance to play often which is why it had taken so long). Don’t think I’ve ever played a game that has had me thinking so much about it when not playing Easily one of the best games I’ve played 🤯
100% Edith Finch - I played it for the first time a few weeks ago during a gaming rut when I couldn’t motivate myself on what to play next, and it was manna for the soul (if a little emotional at times)

God I loved Vagrant Story - and not afraid to admit I picked up the strategy guide 🫢 Just hoping that now that a FF Tactics remake is on the way, a Vagrant Story remake should be next… 🤞🏻

Yes! Released as Fahrenheit in the UK and Europe, but had so many clever ideas that found their way into Heavy Rain and Detroit. The ending was a bit trippy, but was still a great game
The AC franchise is one of my favourites, but the inconsistency is rough at times!! Hope you manage to stick with AC3, the story element improves during the later segments
Playing this at launch and going from Ezio to Connor was such a disappointment 😩 although the parkour through trees mechanic was fun

Yeah I get that - I think lots of the specifics of the game are left deliberately vague and ambiguous. There is plenty of speculation online about the real meaning of the game (Where is the boy? Why is he there?) but I remember reading that the game’s dev never gave a canon explanation
Limbo is a masterpiece! Bought it on Xbox Live a million years ago, and at least 3 other platforms since. Full of ingenious mechanics and lots of eureka moments - and it’s atmospheric af
I played GRIS a few years ago when I was in a really low patch - I’ve never felt a game resonate with me more before or since. Not a word get spoken, yet it speaks volumes. And the soundtrack became my go to chill playlist. Always love seeing GRIS getting some appreciation ❤️

There was only one series of Visionaries made, but 5 year old me thought that it was insanely good!!
I remember having Mumm-Ra’s tomb and it was easily one of the coolest toys I had as a kid
That whole sequence stayed with me for a long time - Hugo playing by the river, turn the corner and then bam!
Never mind that - owning a copy of Resident Evil Survivor marks you as person with exceptional taste!
I loved Eternal Sonata!! The story is bonkers, but the art, gameplay and the music are excellent. The battle systems is more in depth than you first realise, and the optional dungeon near the end of the story is one of my all time gaming high points, with proper story implications
It’s weird - we all know what’s going to happen, but I can’t help think that maybe the story is written in a different way for the show… though I can’t think how they could do it

I’ll happily recommend Koudelka. It is absolute rubbish. Clunky, weird, awkward as hell. Also one of the most brilliant, atmospheric horror RPGs ever made. A beautiful gothic ruin

Not quite as classy for me, but takes me back to using my battered CD player on the bus to school listening to scratched discs. The fact that Tsunami doesn't skip for 10 seconds when I listen to it on Spotify always feels off to me 😄
Of course always objective, but I'm clearly biased because EMG came out when I was 14 and was the quintessential album of my youth
Surely Everything Must Go steals the fan favourite? Design, Australia, Kevin Carter... all stone-cold, sing-out-loud classics. Plus the first album after Richey disappeared and the band reinvented themselves. Can't argue with the Holy Bible though - masterpiece

Haha it was a very graphic heavy challenge for my ageing PC!! I remember the start when a door closed behind me and the first few notes of Everything In Its Right Place kicked in - honestly stopped me in my tracks. Damn I love that album!!
I loved the hidden art book that was stashed inside early CD editions of Kid A - I still have my copy. Radiohead also released the Kid A Mnesia Exhibition, an interactive game where you “play” through the artwork. The sequence for How to Disappear Complete is particularly beautiful.
I have the GRIS soundtrack on while working too! Would also recommend Berlinist’s other work as well - such a talented group of musicians

Garrus died on my suicide mission run years ago and I’m trying to build up the motivation to play all 3 again to (hopefully) see his story play out - and go full on renegade while I’m at it
Since the Holy Bible tour in 2014(?) which was amazing, the tours have all been restrained. The Suede combo gig last year was fun for some novelty, but I can’t imagine the crowd belting out any of the new material
And I can’t help thinking that using the same album font on Critical Thinking as Generation Terrorists is their subtle way of bookending their studio albums…
Every time I go to see the Manics I always assume it will be the last time I’ll see them live. To be fair I really liked Resistance is Futile (Broken Algorithms is a beast of a tune) but I get we’ll never get another Holy Bible/Everything Must Go

The dialogue and localisation, the story, the music… everything about Vagrant Story was magical. I don’t usually hope for remakes, but I agree this would be one too good to miss

Just want to say thanks for this recommendation - have been playing this the past couple of days and it is amazing!! I spent nearly 200 hours with This War of Mine 😬 so felt right at home. Creeping past zombies is infinitely more creepy than avoiding snipers!
Bit of a mixed bag - I prefer it when it is really clear that this leads to the endgame... sometimes I don't pick up on the in game style "I should probably finish all my side quests before I do this action"... I guess I need to pay more attention!

Have been the to see The Smyths a few times, but the best gig was one was a few years back where a broken bass string at the start of Charming Man led to this - it was immense!!

Yeah big advocate of people playing games however they want - I’m a PC gamer who prefers to use a controller because it’s what I grew up with 🙃
I used to enjoy achievements back in the 360 days, but too many guides ruining spoilers for story heavy games really switched me off - plus moving more to PC gaming where the achievement/trophy ecosystem isn’t really the same
How does that mix with using trophy guides? Do you do a dry run without a guide to avoid spoilers, or is it out with a walkthrough from the off?
Loved Koudelka! The game is terrible, clunky, and most of the acting is cringe… but there is something about the aesthetic and feel of the game that transcends all that
When season 1 wrapped up I was straight into reading the 3 books. Waiting for season 2 to finish so I can binge

I never actually played the game because it was only released on Google Daydream, but the soundtrack for So Let Us Melt by Jessica Curry is absolutely stunning - discovered after listening to her work on Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, it’s a beautiful album
