Narrator: my mother had to give up her dreams and go all the way back to her home town when she got pregnant with me. When I’m back home I don’t see another soul for weeks. Me, choking on a swig of seltzer: that’s what, little over an hour on the train?
Thing that is currently driving me insane: I’m reading a book where the narrator keeps describing her “small sleepy home town” in “upstate NY” as being so far from the city and so unpopulated and remote, and friends, she says that town is Bedford NY. Westchester county, an easy commute to the city.
