I have considered this point, myself, but, especially since it only has the one humbucker (they also made a model with both humbuckers), I assume I can configure the pickup switch such that I get classic Tele sound. I also don't have a Gibson of any kind, so, either way, gives new sound options.

Really???! That's like 2005 price!!! I paid, I think, $399 for my MX non-Squier strat in the late 90's (and it has one out-of-tune fret).
A new Squier probably costs $400+ nowadays. It would save me some money. But, I like to buy the real thing sometimes.

The $650 one doesn't say "Made in USA" on the head, whereas the latter one does. There are a few chips in the finish and dot overlay issues on the latter one but it does. I guess I'd have to go American if I went through with a purchase. Not that I'm recently practiced enough to play a guitar.
