China is going to eclipse the US based off electricity alone. They have a modern grid and have been increasingly electrifying their economy. They have massive surpluses of electricity and a lot based in renewables. The US has an aging grid and is tied to a future of burning fossil fuel for energy.
I'm not asking for the world: I want my sister to raise her kids and work a job she likes; I want my father to be safe if he gets sick; I want to spare my friends the choice between their health and their bills. I want the workers who make this possible to have fair wages and working conditions.
None of these are fate or accidents of history—there are simple, discrete policy solutions to make life better for everyone; they just require a little reprioritization. And that little reprioritization is made into siege warfare
