They’re not sending their best. At least if we were being taken over by a bunch of Hans Grubers or Magnetos it wouldn’t be so embarrassing.

But for real "Outspoken reasonable person target of anger from vocal minority on social media" is sort of a dog bites man story. Bluesky isn't the troll-bot-nazi mess that Twitter has become, but it hasn't solved the human problem.

There are a few third rail topics here (regulars know what they are; I won't even mention) and a few nutcases. Not the ambient nightmare that is Twitter.

Fair enough. The other response I made on this is that these are actually not common terms, but terms blown up by Fox et al, which is a harder problem to solve

This is financially true for obvious reasons. In any given year it is much more expensive (and much better!) to fund needed programs and be fiscally responsible than to enrich one corrupt dictator and cronies while cutting quality of life & borrowing a hole in the budget for years to come.

Of course the honest defense against the Third Way critique is that these terms aren't used much (yes examples exist) but much of their infamy is due to Fox et al trumpeting them. Given the D's can't police the language of every student lefty group, it's a hard problem

Although AOC is *not* an example of a politician who has difficulty gaining acceptance from a wider audience, interestingly

But the point here is almost the opposite - "trans women are women" is a principle, while insisting that the term "birthing people" be a part of everyone's vocabulary is eye-rolling pedantry to 99% of voters. Don't compromise on bathrooms, ditch the newspeak.
