I barely see any difference graphically between games that came out 7 years ago and current games, I think we've hit the ceiling in terms of graphical fidelity. If I didn't know which game came out when and you pointed a gun to my head and asked me which one came out first I wouldn't have guessed.

Apparently the producers do try to go out of their way to avoid picking contestants who are familiar with the show to avoid them dominating the competition because of knowledge. They want people who haven't seen the show or aren't that familiar with it so it makes sense.
