I can report that they played it as the first song of the encore in Pittsburgh last month and the audience was *so* ready to cheer at the Pittsburgh mention. (As a Philly-area person, I legally couldn't, but I appreciated the moment!)
According to my diary, it was actually funny (or at least so absurd that we processed it as funny) - we were living together at the time, and she texted me from the kitchen like "UNCLE [name redacted] IS TRTING TO FIGYT WITH ME. HELP." and then we "sat there laughing hysterically for an hour." 🤷♀️
On Facebook in 2016, my uncle felt like a good target for his rant about white liberals who voted for Obama but didn't vote for Alan Keyes when he ran for Senate in Maryland (1988, 1992) was... my sister, b. 1996, Pennsylvania. As a copyeditor who had to intervene in multiple em dash overuse situations today, I fully lost it 11 minutes in when Peter has Michael read the punctuation of one of those nightmare sentences out loud. "end parentheses, begin em dash" 😩
On the off chance the thing that's wrong with Trump's face is Bell's palsy, you will all enjoy knowing that the nerves starting to reactivate is way up there on the "worst pain of my life" list and that one of the symptoms is that hearing anything through that ear is excruciating for a while. 🙂

I do go like 😑 whenever he mentions using it for something, and after he tried having an AI thing do the meeting notes for a volunteer committee we're both on, I flipped a shit because the output made me feel like I'm straight-up not going to be able to read in the future, so now I take the notes.
My dad is the main person in my life who uses it; I try to keep in mind that he's a late-career software guy and I'm staring into the "how can I keep an editing career going if we all agree to cede our thinking and writing to the slop generator" void, so we're gonna see it differently.

This is such an important thread, but this post really made me sad, because the broader scholarly infrastructure has (been) eroded to the point that knowledge exchange simply can't exist in the way it used to and there's little that journals can do about it. Because that infrastructure was people.
