I would be happy if I never heard the name Graham Linehan again, but I do feel the need to comment, because the nature of a lot of the abuse trans people receive is straight up sexual harassment, but is not recognized as such because the victim is trans. What Glinner is doing is sexual harassment.
Just for a second, take a step back, and remember that these are the actions of a 56 year old man towards a 17 year old girl.
This is why working with kids and comedy is very rewarding. Cause if you tell a kid "actually that joke might be offensive for the following reasons..." they'll actually listen and take it on board. Adults will just get into a fight about why they should be allowed be offensive if they want to be

Yeah I get your point, but eg Peter Casey is back for his 3rd go at it. He's been humiliated (by our standards) each time, but all he needs is a TV appearance where he can trash some minority (travellers last time out) & he'll be up at 15% in the polls. So he gets a boost, & minorities get a bashing
This is the thing for me. They could be shamed in the most extreme way possible, but they'll just frame it as a win, so clearly all they're looking for is the TV appearance itself, the outcome is irrelevant. So the solution to that, in my book, is to deny the TV appearance
This is also how I view that Claire Byrne vs Farage clip. I understand the quick hit people get from it, but when that interview was over Farage would have dusted himself off and said thanks for the publicity
Yeah this is the thing. People assume the likes of Nick will walk away all ashamed with how it went, but overall he'll be thrilled with the publicity involved

If he ends up interviewed on the news it'll be like that episode of Staths Lets Flats where Charlotte Richie brings Staths to group therapy, not realising the levels of insanity she was dealing with
I expect to see 5 page spreads about why he was right to harrass a minor and really he's the victim in all of this

You have a guy in the script who gets annoyed at people "double dipping" chips at a funeral. Funny enough on its own. But why not have him dialled up to 100 from the get go. And instead of talking like a normal person, he could say "from now on when you take a chip, just take one dip and END IT!"
This quote sums up why I love Seinfeld so much. Nobody else talks like this. "I'm shifting into soup mode". It's such a funny and odd way to phrase a simple little thought. So many lines like this in the show, that just catch you off guard with how funny and oddly they are written

The odd time I'm asked "how do you get into comedy writing" I'll always say "first off, get used to a fairly extreme amount of rejection, once you're ok with that you'll be fine" It takes a while to get good enough to get paid. The Daily Tism are offering really good rates and opportunities here!
I had to do this last week! Lucky it was close by, but I've a few workshops lined up where it's pretty much impossible for me to get their in person other than the day of the event

Are you heading to one of the London shows? I have tickets to the Friday, very excited. Their album Hot Shots 2 is the one where they go all in on a settled sound with tight structures to all the songs, probably my favourite of theirs!
