Trying to watch Scandal for the first time and, man, the writing/editing/acting is so BAD! And her being hot for a Republican president? Yikes. This was a terrible time to try this show. One episode and I think Iām done. Are all Shondaland shows written/edited/acted like this? š¤Ø

Children play without any problemsā¦until boys are taught that girls are āyuckyā and that doing anything ālike a girlā is cause for great shame. And that negative indoctrination continues through adulthood. Is it any wonder they grow up not to respect or even like women? No.
I donāt care what the reason is. If people are motivated to actual action and make necessary changes, thatās what matters.
Believe me, some definitely didnāt make the cut. That goes for other races too. But I live in a country where foreigners are maybe 1% of the population and there are only a handful of black people scattered. Iām not friendly because people seek my friendship, not to other way around.
There are black folks with zero white friends who seek validation from white people, but there are those of us who actually have white friends and still manage to keep it real. Thatās why Iām not friends with white people who canāt accept the harsh truth, especially out of my mouth.
IDGAF about the group liking me, but I do have awesome individual friends, people who I didnāt go into knowing with any intentions whatsoever. On the other hand, how people see you is how they treat you. Thatās why I keep it cute but let it be known Iām not to be played with, nor is my race.
I was just thinking about this scene earlier. DS9 was both relevant at its time and ahead of its time. So, basically, it was timeless. Best Trek ever, and one of the best TV shows of all time. The writing is so good. It could stand with the best of them today.

The times demand I rewatch Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. It was as relevant in 2016-2020 as it is right now. Humanity clocks its own nature with perfect accuracy in the hands of great writers. I agree with a comment I read that said its level of writing was never seen in Star Trek again. šÆ š

SAVAGELAND is a palette-cleanser after the gross insanity that was Titane. Seems like a film that should have come out now. I wonder if it would have been bigger if came out now. It has some issues (plot holes, editing), but the premise is fascinating, and the recovered photos are creepy.

Well, what did you expect? Itās not like Japan where youāre seen as a harder worker the longer you stay clocked in needlessly. Anyone whoād take advantage of that in a relationship doesnāt care.
Also, some of the same women thinking traditional women are gold diggers and/or lazy for only doing a traditional relationship (not the two full-time jobs of 9-to-5 + wife/mother) will later complain about a partner and/or ex who doesnāt help.
But bigoted, uneven gender norms do not a successful project make. Because once the teacher starts asking your partner questions they canāt answer (whoās your childās doctor, does your child have any allergies), then what? A failing grade because the point of a group project is to work as a GROUP.
But if men think itās masculine to be independent and focus only on themselves, what can women expect from such a āpartnerā but exactly that? Itās like a group project where the team lead (the actual support) does the whole project. Sad thing is, a lot of women are okay with that.
Putting physical/cultural stereotypes aside, it seems black women are only seen as āmasculineā when we work to support only ourselves (i.e., are independent) but not when we work for a manās benefit (including raising his children, partnered or alone).
Soā¦weāre āgold diggersā if we want to play āourā ātraditionalā role and expect the man to play theirsā¦but we should āchoose betterā if we do 70/30 in terms of both working outside and inside the home and lament about it? Sounds like a scam to me, fully rigged.
That Iām seeing black women not get that reminds me that you cannot save everyone. There are going to have to be some left behind. A lot of black women can āvoteā against their best interests too. And you just have to move around them or be dragged down.
Some of the same ones whoāll complain about not being appreciated by their partner will say women are lazy for choosing to just be a wife/mother while wife/mother IS the full-time job, with overtime. So, mothehood + a full-time job + a partner = Married single motherhood. šµāš«

I loved & binged the first book, but aside from some flirtation scenes, I didnāt really enjoy the second. It was so disappointing because I was so hyped for months. It felt like she was spinning wheels with very little motion in the plot in spite of the page count. I hope the next book is better!

Good! Glad I canceled my subscription years ago when Netflix decided to be the new FOX Network of the 90s/00s, canceling good shows with great potential and keeping garbage. They can take this and 28 Reasons Why to their therapist. Tubi has been better than Netflix for a minute, low-key, anyway. š š¾

I found a brand new pair of thigh-high boots today for 280 yen ($1.78). One of the best surprise thrift finds over the past year. This is still one of my favorites, though it wasnāt cheap. Iād have loved a Black Panther one (if it even exists) over an Iron Man one.
