I was actually watching the live stream on Saturday.. I wonder how many people were, can't have been more than a few thousand? Anyone know the figures?

I went to Glastonbury 8 times, and only had a mobile for the last one.. I wonder if people interact less now.. when you lose your mates, you can call them, whereas before you ended up chatting to other folk who were in a similar situation.

Surprisingly good article highlighting the variety of Sheffields venues (I thought it was going to be another leadmill propaganda piece..)

Crazy album from 1971.. allegedly the main guy was from Sheffield and the backing band is 10cc! @joebankswriter.bsky.social are you familiar with this? Looks like HW may have been inspired on Doremi by the Space Hymns title open.spotify.com/track/1VL8xs...

Standard wisdom ( ie Bob Stanley) says the Doors were popular/ name checked until this film came out. I'm with Stone on this one though..

Disappointed that there wasn't much focus on the coordinated attack on anyone who speaks out about Palestine. Interestingly, a cursory Google would have revealed ( disgraced) Tory MP Mark Francois's throat slitting gesture during the Brexit debates, which seems to have been ignored by the media.

Life has been shit and neither Labour or Tories have done anything about it. Personally I think Farage is a chancer at best, and traitor at worst. I'm amazed the main parties haven't targeted him more.

Worth remembering that Mark Francois did a slit throat gesture during the Brexit debates.. not sure he ever apologised for that.

I think Rush probably got the idea from Genesis

It was an amazing night.. I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot.. great that the format meant you could have a proper two way conversation with Melissa rather than the standard book launch interview. Thanks to you both.

Portillo reruns being on 27 channels on any given day ( well, it feels like it) probably skew the stats. But what would Bradshaw say?

Just noticed they played Sheffield city hall on that tour. I put Budgie on about 12 years later in Sheffield, and they played to about 150 people.. nostalgia wasn't as big a thing as it is today.

"People think it's funny, but it's really hot and runny.." Can anyone else remember the rest of the school yard classic?

Parts of it were filmed just a few streets from where I live.. I think 1970s Sheffield had the right amount of grimness

Starmer needs to take robust measures against Russian supporters. Maybe traditional methods might be too extreme. But I'm amazed Labour haven't focused on Farages questionable connections.. it's an open goal.

Nice to see a pub I regularly go to in the top10 ( the Rutland.. which has just.. shock horror.. had a bit of a tidy up). Good luck with the column.

Loudest gig I've ever been to was Godflesh around this time.. it was relentless.. I had to go to the toilet to get toilet paper to put in my ears ( ear plugs were some way off in the far future..)

It was a great book.. gave a real insight into the people and times. Geeky t-shirt question, one of people managing the band in 76/77 talks about introducing about 12 new t-shirts.. but I'm struggling to think of more than a few from that time. Any ideas?

I do enjoy the podcast.. even tho I'm prob trad labour.. it's a shame Tim wasn't on. It's good to get a range of opinions.. rather than just the centerists dads of some more popular podcasts.. that pretty much agree on everything.

First blue sky post. Sticking it to The Man by leaving twitter.. Well, I haven't actually deleted my account yet, but the intention is there..
