And extremely increased risk of heart attack and stroke are hardly non-issues! Lowering the age of concern for two or more generations for health conditions that can USUALLY be expected to be end-of-life risks to middle age or younger is a HUGE, ongoing problem!

For me, masks are a part of life now just like seat belts are. It is what it is.
Long covid alone makes it significantly more serious than the flu. And since it is a novel illness, we don't know what the effects will be 10 years out, but we DO already know that it destroys immune systems & folks are sicker, more often. Imo it's not time to be so cavalier about it just yet.

I’m an urgent care provider. I had 5 + tests in clinic just yesterday. I cannot tell you how many pts say “COVID is still a thing?” And I want to scream “YES! And it’s going to be a thing for the foreseeable future!” It blows my mind.
I will die on this hill: it isn’t hard to say “at the height of the pandemic” or “at the start of COVID” during a podcast interview. Producers, hosts, don’t let your guests say “during COVID” like this thing is over. Correct them. Ask them to say the sentence again. This is your job.

Good news: fascist regimes in the modern era don't tend to last too long if they are overt about it. One could argue (& I do) that the US has always been fascist, but we see how this overt turn is accelerating resistance at every level, thus creating the moment the People need. Act accordingly.
If we look at actual history, the largest changes are rarely slow & incremental. They happen quickly when the timing is right and the Will of the People is there. The Chinese Revolution was ~20 years. The French & the (1st😏) American Revolution took ~10 years. The Russian, 5 years. Blips in time.
