I've used rolling as a delay tactic to cover a moment of consideration. It works as a GM or Player.
You need a stat-less system or a GM willing to homebrew your chosen system without numbers. Option 2 can be a tall order, but I do it with Dark Conspiracy's 1991 release. It's a simple system and a horror game so removing all numbers started as a tool of immersion that worked really well.
