And well yeah, we can’t ignore the cost, energy, water, emissions all matter too. that whole one AI query costs 1000 liters of water, was BS, though efficiency must be part of the discussion. (And GoT8… couldn’t agree more😅 A bit less greed, more time and dedication would have saved that final act!)
We must agree to disagree, unless your definition of create, differs from mine. I use it to create code and scripts, reply to business mail, where it shines: handling the tedious stuff so I can focus on thinking and being creative and spend time with my family. Replacing human creativity! never!
We’ve been living with AI-like systems for decades, from fuzzy logic in washing machines to pool safety tech. That’s where it really shines: making life easier, safer, and more efficient. But art and culture is different, that sparks our emotions, and that’s something truly unique to us as humans.
I’ve been using AI for coding and scripting, where it really helps with efficiency. But art? Stories? Movies? Those often come from people with something to say. Let's not replace authors or filmmakers with algorithms just to save a buck. Use AI where it makes sense, not just because you can! 😊
Perhaps Game of Thrones Season 8 would not have been a completely broken in so many ways, if the creative team, could have tapped into an GoT AI HiveMind?!? Maybe the real question is: where does it actually make sense for us to embrace AI, and where should human originality stay untouchable?
I’ve been working with AI about 2 years, mostly for coding/scripting and now it's really priceless for me, helping speed up tedious stuff. But books? We (still?) have authors for that, and I can’t imagine why we’d want to replace them. Perhaps AI can help authors keep track of everyone/everything?
Will A.I. culture submerge human originality in a sea of unmotivated, formulaic art, or allow for the expression of new visions?
