I enjoy both; fun to go out and get a few hours alone. Also fun to ride with friends and Paceline/push pace! I ran into a friend at the cafe stop, so I at least got to chat a bit!
Absolutely dead after 60 miles BUT I did set a bunch of 2nd best PRs — but I was solo and not in a group so it’s probably my best solo times on that road. Full gas there and back meant the final 15 miles back home after the ride I was destroyed 😂
Also building walkable/bikeable neighborhoods means less to carry because you can easily make daily trips for things!

Borrowed a bike this weekend that is running 25c tires. Quite a change from my normal 32c tubeless (the 32c are more comfy). My commuter is 28c tubes but I kinda want to covert them to 32c tubeless…

Being able to ride a bike to get around is so lovely, especially when the weather is nice. Safety is a core component of this. Protected bike lanes and dedicated bikeways make all the difference in the world in terms of experience and willingness to go out and ride.

Just re-indexed my gears, first time doing so on this bike. I think it’s all good? But I wish there was a perfectly quiet drivetrain… does such a thing exist? Can you perfectly index so there is never any noise and all shifts are perfect? Or does that require wireless shifting?

Roughly 5k miles on the drivetrain so far!
I only recently learned how to properly take care of my drivetrain. I had so much junk on my cassette from over-lubricating last year. Now it should hopefully stay nice and clean for awhile. (2/3)
Reae wheel removed. Cassette taken off, and disassembled. Scrubbed/soaked/scrubbed/rinsed. Bike wiped down. Chain deep cleaned. Cassette reassembled and mounted. Wheel replaced. Chain oiled. Disc brake rotors wiped clean. 😮💨😮💨😮💨 Took about 2 hours but the drivetrain looks fantastic. (1/3)
The black and white looks better IMO. I understand why they do this for leader bikes, but it never really looks good.

If it makes you feel better, when I removed/cleaned/refilled the sealant on my wheels last week, I got to do the rear twice cuz I put the tire on backwards. And I didn’t realize until I had seated the tire, filled it with selant, and pumped it up with air 😭

It would have been so good! Also I’m glad to see MVDP riding strong on the tour this year. Last year I felt like he didn’t do a whole lot besides lead out for Jasper. My memory is I was underwhelmed by his performance. But he’s crushing it right now!

Okay so I just rewatched the original Top Gun, and Iceman (Val Kilmer) is def the better pilot and leader.
Driving around the Miami / Fort Lauderdale area and whoever designed the bike lanes on these massive “roads” (which are basically highways, 3+ lanes each direction)… it’s bad. Idk how anyone would use them. Cars have to constantly cross back and forth across it for turns. It’s a bad design.
