There’s a guy trapped in my wall. I’m pretty sure it’s The Giver. He’s either distressed at being trapped in a wall or totally coked up. Or both. You see it, right? Please tell me I’m not crazy.
It meant a lot to Franz because he caught it at a game when he was a kid and got Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig to sign it. From then on, he took it to every game he ever went to and tried to get signatures. He would hold it every night as he watched tv, so now it looks a little rough.
My dad was the manager of the apartment complex I grew up in and there was an older man named Franz that my parents took care of. We’d take him dinner every night, include him in our holiday events, etc.. It was his ball and he gave it to my dad before he passed away.
The “Conley” signature says 1931 and the “Thomas” signature is dated 1944.
I think the top signature says Conley and the bottom says Thomas, but I’m not sure about first names. I agree with the second pic. It’s definitely Roger something and I also this it starts with Sc. If only they were as clear as the Babe Ruth signature.
I plan on going to an event JSA will be at in September but I’m trying to find out as much as possible before then.
I have a baseball with a bunch of signatures from the 1920’s-40’s and I’m trying to identify them. I’ve identified Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Connie Mack, George “Mule” Haas, James Rip Collins, and Lefty Grove, but there’s still a few I can’t figure out. Any ideas?
I just saw an adorable video of my (now nearly 22-year-old) son when he was 4 and he called peanut butter “peener butter” and Buzz Lightyear was “Buzz Lightbeer”. How did I forget about that?! It’s peener butter and Buzz Lightbeer for me from here on out.
I write like that all the time. Seriously, anything I don’t want to officially sign, I just write John Hancock. Nobody has ever questioned it. It’s actually kind of crazy. It’s like signatures mean nothing anymore.
I was inspired by South Park to use it to send texts to my husband. We’re currently in therapy. Not saying that those two statements are related, but they’re both true. 🤷♀️
I recently referenced Napoleon Dynamite when a local naturalist was talking about how bees store pollen in pollen baskets on their legs. You know, like tater tots in a pocket. Practically the same thing. Either way, both are nerdy facts. The point is, I’m a nerd and tater tots are delicious.
My friend’s mother is dying right now and I feel so bad because I went through the same thing when my dad died in January. When library patrons died with books on hold, I would read them because it broke my heart to think of them going unread. I felt like I had to finish that last task for them.
Willy Wonka and boxes of unlabeled chocolates are the two main sources of all my trust issues.
That is what I’d really like to be.
To jump on the Grandpa Joe bandwagon here, did any of the other grandparents even try to get out of bed? No. I’d like to think they got their assess out of bed to move once Charlie owned the factory but then again, what cocksuckers were they if they were faking all that time?
I make sure to give a compliment to at least one person every time I am out. I love seeing how my comments impact people. Who wouldn’t want to be the giver or the recipient in that situation? It’s a win-win!

I’m currently watching Creed (one of my favorite movies) and I was totally identifying with Rocky as this old out of shape individual with lessons to share. But I realized I’m actually closer to Michael B. Jordan’s age (by multiple decades) and now I just feel like a loser instead of a wise mentor.
My husband is an Infantry Soldier and when I first met him 25+ years ago he was against women or gay soldiers in the Infantry. Now he serves with women and one of his best soldiers is transgender so he’s obviously changed his tune. Representation matters. Seeing is believing.
Why? Let me tell you! Trump hates immigrants, even though his family is full of them. He also hates women, although he loves to assault them. Science, math, facts…they’re also enemies of this administration. That’s a problem because I believe in all of those things.
I hate Donald Trump so much. I don’t typically use any form of social media and haven’t been on here in over a month but my hatred is so overwhelming that I had to vent it somewhere because I’m jut overflowing with disgust.
Down with the patriarchy! I’m so sick of it. In schools, public libraries, everywhere!

Neighborhood holiday house tours should be a thing. Like you sign up to show off your house and get a designated time for tours and you also get to visit other peoples’ houses. I’m always interested in how others’ decorate. 🎄
I associate coffee with cigarettes because my mother always had her morning cigarette with a cup of black coffee. In my mind, they’re both gross.

I seriously have parents asking me to discipline their children because their kids supposedly won’t listen to them. That’s a problem!
I love the concept and the cover art! Congrats on getting your book published! I’m definitely going to check it out to see how I can use it in my library programs.
It’s no time at all, especially given that anyone born in the mid-90’s qualifies as a 12-year-old to me. Then again, many of the parents in my library programs were born around then and based on the amount of control they have on their child, they may as well be 12.
Omg, for a second I thought you were a wizard or I had allowed access to my camera or something because I’m wearing a book dress right now! Then I realized you meant my profile pic and the dress I’m wearing is different. I’m the Ms. Frizzle of the library. I have a dress for every theme.
I figured you as “my age” which in my head is 30-50 but as inch closer to 50, the young 30’s get closer to 12-yr-olds. I think the 1987 just threw me because I was born in 1977 and the decade difference seemed so stark.
My own kids don’t even get me a Mother’s Day card so you’re off the hook.
Btw, that doesn’t mean that you look old, just that I am a very poor judge of age. I have 4 age groups: littles, 12 year olds, my age, old people.

Today, for the first time ever, I sent students back to class when they tried to return their class’s library books during my lunch. Later, I gave the teacher the option to check the books in while I started the lesson with her class and she replied, “that’s not in my job description.” Wtf?
Any other school librarians struggling with the teacher-librarian role? I’m an awesome teacher and I’m an awesome librarian, but I feel like I suck as a teacher-librarian. There’s not enough time to do either job effectively, let alone to the standard that I think they should be done.
I just ordered a bunch of mice stickers on Temu to hide around the various “neighborhoods” of the library because I joke that there’s a whole city full of mice living under the shelves and at night the mouse mail carriers deliver mail using call number addresses. I can’t wait for them to get here!
Halloween is over so now the most wonderful time of the year officially begins! Time to watch our Jack-o-lantern decompose!
Today was Wacky Wednesday! I wore a dinosaur dress, cat unicorn socks, rainbow sneakers, and 80’s accessories (big pink bow in my hair, hot pink mesh gloves, long dangly earrings) and I’ve never heard, “You look so beautiful!” as much as I did today. 😂
I just joined this site tonight and now I already have an escape room idea in which students are water beetles and have to answer questions/solve puzzles to escape the frog’s digestive system! So excited! Now looking up “snail anvilling”…
It’s time for bed and I just remembered that it’s Picture Day tomorrow. Not to be confused with Wacky Wednesday the next day. 😬 You know there’s going to be some confusion and I can’t wait to see the results! 😂
