I was incorporating games in Comp Sci in 2014, now I put together a whole shop to teach kids how to make games, administrators really need to open up and start supporting games more, they're incredible tools for education

The fact gaming is becoming a hobby for older and richer people is a symptom of a mismanaged industry. We absolutely need free or cheap games, smaller games, shorter, more innovative experiences, and most companies are trying to put out the exact opposite
I don't want to keep harping about Blockbuster, but we rented most NES games. It was $3 to $5 for a weekend, play, beat, return, anything we actually bought we did because we'd trade it to others, unbeatable value and variety that's completely non-existent now
People lamenting kids not growing up the way they did with traditional consoles and games need to understand that the teens are being priced out of the hobby, they pick free games like Fortnite and Roblox because it offers the same low cost, high variety experience video games used to do

I was substituting for the only sub company in my area in a school district so small the principal and superintendent were the same person. They took all the clocks out of the classrooms and when I took my phone out to check the time they fired me. The company said they had no work for me after that

I think overall you're right, but as a counterpoint if people want "shorter games with worse graphics", etc episodic may be a way of accomplishing that. An hour seems..light, it might be a while before people dial in to a working version of the strategy

The Scavengers Reign game would need to be an augmented reality game that has you walking through a real forest being horrified at everything its showing you and at the end it unlocks a wiki that shows you they took the ideas for the grossest stuff from actual nature.

I think if you're making a survival game what happens on death should be unknown to the player. Like there should be a percentage of runs that just end in permanent lose everything death, not all of them, but enough that the obstacles you create are taken seriously enough
