I have a sale on my online shop, with up to 50% off for a limited period of time! Comics, books and original art are on sale. The United is a British superhero comic, with a weird horror vibe. It started as a love-letter to Alan Davis' Captain Britain and morphed into something like a Vertigo comic.

Reposting art I like. Donald Teague, "Couple on Rocks". 1942. LOVE this painting. Mesmerised by the bold dynamic framing and limited colour palette. It can appear as a captured moment [waves crashing in the background] but also be seen as timeless. The light on her face... perfect.

Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. T is also for Tribbles. When you are born pregnant and all you do is squeak, eat & reproduce then you are potentially a huge problem for an intergalactic space crew. The little balls of fur first appeared in the 2nd series story 'The Trouble with Tribbles'.
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. S is also for Sarek. Played by Mark Lenard, Sarek is the Vulcan representative to The Federation but he is also Spock's Father. It wasn't until the second series episode 'Journey to Babel' that we see his, and Spock's Human Mother Amanda, first appearance.
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. R is also for Ruk. 'What Are Little Girls Made Of?' is a great story with menacing androids, a duplicate Kirk & an overall unsettling feeling. Ted Cassidy as Ruk stands out but special mention for the curtains that where obviously used to create his costume!
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. M is also for Mudd. 'Mudd's Women' introduces Harry Mudd an intergalactic con man & swindler played by Roger C. Carmel who is another Batman TV series baddie playing Colonel Gumm. He appeared again and in the Animated Series along with Star Trek: Discovery.
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. P is also for Pike. Before Kirk there was Christopher Pike, played by Jeffrey Hunter, captain of the Enterprise for the pilot 'The Cage' elements of which where then re-used for the story 'The Menagerie' which saw a disabled Pike played by Sean Kenney.
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. K is also for Khan. In the story 'Space Seed' the Enterprise encounters the SS BotanyBay adrift in space, inside in suspended animation genetic superhumans who attempted to conquer Earth during the Eugenics Wars of the 1990s, which I'm sure you all remember.
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. Z is for Zarabeth. 'All Our Yesterdays' and is a great time travel twist story in which Kirk, Spock & Bones step through a portal to different time periods of the planet Sarpeidon. Spock & Bones travel together to the planets ice age and encounter Zarabeth.
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. Y is for Yeoman. Grace Lee Whitney played Yeoman Rand who had a short but memorable time on the Enterprise. Originally cast as an eventual romantic lead for Captain Kirk she was slowly phased out of the show in the first series.
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. X is for Charlie X. The second episode brought us the start of the crew meeting odd people with strong mind powers but terrible social skills. He causes chaos as he sulks his way around the ship, becomes infatuated with Yeoman Rand and annoyed at Kirk.
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. W is for Wilson. Who? Wilson is a henchman for Chekov in the episode 'Mirror, Mirror' where Kirk, Bones, Uhura and Scotty are accidentally transported to an alternative universe where the Terran Empire are a ruthless and cruel version of the Federation.

Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. V is for Vulcan. The Vulcans where the first alien race to make contact, in the series, with Humans. Leonard Nimoy as Mr Spock was in from the first pilot and his association ran all the way to the second reboot film in 2013 just two years before his death.

Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. U is for Uhura. Nichelle Nichols played Nyota Uhura, communications officer of the Enterprise. She had a long association with NASA and helped run a recruitment program for minority and female personnel. Asteroid '68410 Nichols' is named after her.
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. T is for Talosians. The Talosians are up to no good in the way that super powerful entities with powerful minds usually are on the original series by kidnapping people and hoping they'll mate to create a slave race to repopulate their desolate planet. Ok then.
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. S is for Salt Vampire. In 'The Man Trap' the crew of the Enterprise are visiting a far flung outpost to give medical check ups on the people stationed there when a shape shifting something attacks a crew member and removes all the salt from their body.

Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. R is for Romulan. The series one episode 'Balance of Terror' is a great story and the first time we encounter the Romulans. The Enterprise fight a 'hide and seek' battle with a Romulan ship that has been destroying Federation outposts near the Neutral Zone.

Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. Q is for Quadrant. Located in a star desert in Quadrant 904 we find Trelane played by William Campbell in 'The Squire of Gothos'. This charmer appears to have the ability to change anything he likes, clothes, surroundings, reality, all done by his pure will.
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. P is for Pavel Chekov. Introduced in the second series thirty year old Walter Koenig was cast as navigator Ensign Chekov in an attempt to secure teenage viewers with his look being somewhat like singer Davy Jones from the popular band The Monkees.

Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. O is for Orion. A colourless illustration of an Orion doesn't help so imagine green skin. Appearing in the first pilot episode and 'The Menagerie' this is Vina who is actually a human transformed into an Orion (yeah just go with it) played by Susan Oliver.
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. N is for Nurse. Working with Dr McCoy is head nurse Christine Chapel played by Majel Barrett who had played the part of Number One in the first pilot episode. Nurse Chapel made her first appearance early in the first season story 'The Naked Time'.

Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. I is for Iotians. Down on Sigma Iotia II it is eternally the 1920's of Chicago and so being it is ruled by ruthless gangsters. 'A piece of the action' sees Kirk and Spock mixed up with rival mob gangs. All lovely nonsense.
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. H is for Hikaru Sulu. Missing from the first two pilot episodes he made his debut in the first proper to air episode of season one 'The Man Trap'. Lieutenant Sulu, portrayed by George Takei, was the helmsman on the USS Enterprise.

Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. G is for Gorn. 'Arena' sees yet another alien race, the Metrons, transport the captains of two spaceships down to a rocky asteroid to fight it out. The loser will have their vessel & crew destroyed, the victor will be allowed to part in peace. Who will win?
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted reply parent
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. F is for Flying Parasites. The last story of season one was 'Operation -- Annihilate!' and is a classic one species of alien using the bodies of others as hosts story. This really stuck in my head as a kid, it might even have been the first episode I saw.

Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. E is for Excalbians. Yarnek (a living rock with claws) contemplates good/evil and has a competition between two groups to help consider the matter. 'The Savage Curtain' features Abe Lincoln and Genghis Khan among others so it also ticks the 'what the?' box.
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. D is for Dehner. Dr Dehner appeared in 'Where No Man Has Gone Before', becoming almost God like with powers bestowed upon her by a strange electrical force. Played by Sally Kellerman whose many acting roles included "Hot Lips" Houlihan in the film M*A*S*H.

Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. C is for Cheron. There is civil war on the planet Cheron & Lokai is being chased by Bele for masterminding the revolt. The two sides of the argument don't match much like the two sides of their faces in the 3rd series story 'Let that be your Last Battlefield'.
Graeme Neil Reid (@graemeneilreid.bsky.social) reposted reply parent
Star Trek: The Original Series A to Z. B is for Balok. Appearing in 'The Corbomite Manoeuvre' from the first series. All was not as it seemed in this adventure and the mysterious and frightening alien Balok ended up being a rather obnoxious child like being played by a seven year old Clint Howard.
