No pretense that US is somehow engaged in an armed conflict that might justify lethal targeting in this manner. As I told @npr.org this morning, we have a word for premeditated killing outside of armed conflict: murder. (Also the administration has not substantiated any of its factual claims.)

A pal rescued a pair of SVX9000 variable frequency drives from the trash for me. Without describing he says they were simply replaced, written off and headed for a dumpster. Pretty sure I should open them up and look for a cause, at least. Through the cooling holes I all ready see the name ‘RIFA.’

Introducing her to a blow dryer almost immediately seems to have yielded a great disinterest in all of the household noise making machines that can often upset many rescued dogs I’ve known. I have to give others the option because despite some effort the blow dryer still really scares them.

Lack of access to lightweight explosives seems to be THE barrier to drone terrorism outside of active war zones. ipso facto, if you’re worried about drone terrorism, you should be channeling as many resources as possible into *explosives control*.

More before further storms. Might’ve overestimated our DIY capability for one weekend but it is up and pretty much sealed. Have to put a roof on yet but then it will be a place for some of those solar panels the county donated to the community. And strapping, install +2 windows. Endless, really.

I caught up on a few shots this afternoon and chatted with the pharmacist throughout. She said they’re giving Covid boosters but for now only can with a prescription. “I’ve been telling everyone to check back in two weeks.” ‘Wait and see’ on compromised regulatory processes is so disappointing. 😕

I believe they are pretty common on the auction sites, at least. In the wild, here in the United States at least, the black uranium glazes seem almost nonexistent. Almost always orange, a bit of yellow.

Last week I got two documents from the NNSA, via a FOIA request that I filed 2 years ago, involving early (1947 and 1949) estimates by scientists at Los Alamos (incl. Stevens alum Frederick Reines) trying to estimate how many nuclear bombs it would take to radioactively contaminate the planet.

A smooth rotator! This is the 40m Thai National Radio Telescope (TNRT) 🔭 with a design based on the Spanish Yebes Observatory. The telescope is based near Chiang Mai and is sensitive to 0.3 - 115 GHz and currently has L- and K-band detectors.

The scrapyard I accidentally set the portal monitors off at is right near there. Procedure meant they couldn’t accept being shown the old alarm clock with its $5 tag intact as alarm explanation. I had to hide it down the street and drive through two more times to eliminate the “false” positive.

Seeing that old radio telescope for sale in Wesley Chapel reminded me of an abandoned visible obsv that was in the woods when I was a kid. It was out in Bull Creek, as I was told mostly operated by phone line from the FIT campus but it had stability issues. And sometimes locals would shoot at it. 😕

Titan dog’s favorite person visited until late tonight. For a dog who was inexplicably violent towards most people he’s always happy and affectionate toward this one smaller friend. Cole the Labrador was happy too, he’s just getting a bit old and had to start medicine for arthritis pain recently. 😕

That day he told me he did a couple years in prison before moving home with his Mom and some restrictions on movement. And in visiting the store where I was working he noticed they no longer sold anything of utility to that end. The only reason he went to prison. So much of that weirdness here.😕

Bringing jobs back to America. Vaguely remember it as a problem when I was a kid. Could see people at the dollar store buying whole cases of cold tablets. At my early job, first chain ag-store, ran into a guy I was in Boy Scouts with. The DEA followed him while buying many gallons of Iodine soln.😬

Florida DOGE is making some noise about issuing subpoenas around here. Said the officials contacted the other week were not sufficiently cooperative. It sure seem to be just spectacle and political punishment - we have a surprisingly effective government down here.

I felt that way about stumbling across the National Electronics Museum in Maryland while just in area to see the NSA Cryptography museum. Certain when I visited though signs read “National Defense Electronics Museum.” I’ll have to consult my photos to see if they indeed dropped the word “Defense.”
