So today, in the middle of a grammar lesson, I got an ESPN notification on my watch that Taylor & Travis were engaged. But since all the kids had their phones in phone jail at the back of the class, I was the only one who knew. And I got to be the one to tell all of them. The power was exhilarating.
I joked about it with the drama parents and we all had a good laugh
being a rural high school english teacher is fun because i had tomorrow’s agenda written on the board but then i erased it because tomorrow we’re learning about (grammatical) pronouns and tonight is Back to School Night and having “Pronouns” on the board seems like a real bad idea
On this Saturday I find myself watching the pilot of “The Hunting Wives” and it’s horrible but I also can’t stop watching

My favorite “big picture” part of Fantastic Four was how they took the biggest weakness of Infinity War—Cap is an idiot not to sacrifice Vision, who is willing to sacrifice himself—and gave us the believable, highest possible stakes version of that. (And the characters wrestle with the problem!)

I’m in another class with them over summer and seriously, EVERY post is AI generated. They pepper in these little parenthetical side comments to throw you off but it’s so obvious (at least, to anyone who’s taught high school), and i can’t believe they continue to get away with it.
