As for me, I’ll pass on any thoughts and prayers. Instead, I’ll take the Susan Collins approach and express my concern. Probably only mild concern, though.

Over the past few years I’ve been reading first-person accounts of Germany in the 1930s — by citizens, diplomats, visitors. The parallels of what’s happening here now are striking.

This afternoon we celebrated a lady at our Retirement Facility who turned 100. She looks and acts younger than RFKjr. She’s also much smarter than he is.
And funny that Trump has been pushing giving a bonus to taxpayers, the money being taken from the tariffs that we paid in the first place, and reducing the amount that he says is paying off the national debt. Makes my head spin.

I completely agree. I have enough trouble living my own life. I don’t need to tell others how to live theirs unless it’s harming me. And that’s a function of what they do, not how they look.
They thought their position descriptions said “hand jobs,” which they seem to be doing quite well.
Are they all just trying to outdo each other in their sycophancy? What prize does the “winner” get?

There are many examples of MAGAs desecrating the American flag in ways other than burning — clothes, decorations, etc. Trump needs to be pushed on this.

I believe employers often cover the cost of NG deployments by paying employees the difference between their NG pay and their salary. Will those employers start to balk at this kind of deployment when the “emergency” is long-lasting and transparently political?

Exactly. Tariffs are a very regressive tax, like any sales tax. Income taxes are flexible and can be made more progressive … but only if kept simple with few loopholes.

Both Putin and Trump are cheaters who renege on their promises. It will be interesting to see which one cheats first in any agreement they might sign. It’s a toss-up.

Trump reneged on his promise to leave Afghanistan and unloaded the problem on Biden, who was left to take responsibility for the withdrawal. But he can’t do the same thing with Ukraine even though he’s tired of it. So now he has to worry about saving face when he fails to achieve peace.
Remember what good we learned from the Marshall Plan after WWII, esp when compared to the crippling reparations after WWI — which then led up to WWII. Trump seems to be going for Option 2. Forgiveness is not a word in Trump’s limited vocabulary.

Yup. And he’s only in his first year. My big problem is that even if he doesn’t complete his term, the line of succession sucks as well. The only bright spot is that Vance & Johnson aren’t as good as Trump at bullying, although they’d have Heritage & SCOTUS backing them up.

Trump and his insider friends thrive on chaos and uncertainty. The rest of us are their victims.
There are some arguments about whether his popularity is dwindling. On particular issues it certainly is, but his base seems to continue to be strong overall. And media coverage is not the same as public opinion…or actual votes. It’s hard to predict the future. 🤷♂️
