Agreed. These people somehow can’t distinguish between speech that’s being challenged by other speech, or speech that’s being actually curtailed. Someone quitting a job because they were uncomfortable being disagreed with vs someone being arrested for writing an op-ed. Very different!
Three things made the US a rich and powerful nation: the rule of law, its science & innovation system, and openness to foreign talent. Remarkable how Trump has taken a sledgehammer to all three. No enemy of this country could do more.
What a waste of time and energy
We had a president in Joe Biden who cared about public service, employing government to make lives better and speaking out about kindness, decency and democracy. That’s what a real president does and sounds like.

An 82 yo isn’t as nimble as he used to be? Normal. Is it a “crisis”? I don’t think so. His SOTU a few months earlier was good. In retrospect should he have signaled in 2022 already that he wouldn’t run again? Probably. But this crisis narrative TODAY is wrong and meant to distract from Trump
I think it’s also important to distinguish between campaigning and governing. Biden was never eloquent nor quick on his feet with zingers, which is what you need in today’s media environment. OTOH his presidency qua presidency was largely successful
They need to manufacture a Biden cognitive decline “crisis” to distract from the cognitive decline of the sitting president. Just like the manufactured “Biden crime family” narrative. Tapper should be ashamed, as should every journalist feverishly attempting to make this a litmus test for Dems

Do Dem candidates send more texts than Trump/MAGA? Is this text fundraising working? I’m more interested in that than in reading endless complaint pieces about Dem texts. If we have to keep pace with MAGA in fundraising and they successfully inundate folks with texts, it’s a small price to pay
