We were there last year for a show. It was a lovely space.
Not a single one. And the worst thing is, some of the most "liberal" hold outs of media were also engaging in this on a daily basis. It's incredibly disheartening and very frustrating to see just how complicit it all was, and how quiet it is now. Fascism knocked, and they just let it right in.
In a world with far too many legacy sequels, Freakier Friday somehow does the impossible in meeting expectations. I am still stunned by how good this movie is and how Jamie and Lindsay still have the chemistry that made their previous film so beloved.

On similar note, I spent most of my life thinking that the closing line of "Thunder Road" was "It's a town full of losers, boy, and I ain't here to win!" And while that doesn't make the most sense in that song, it's a sentiment that feels like home and makes a lot of sense in this story.
I don't know if LIGHT OF DAY is the "best" version of this movie, but it is the right one. Cleveland in the '80s isn't glamorous, nor is being in a band that peaks at bars. Everything about this movie knows that, and its faults really drive it home. I really value the honesty here.

This is, by no means, the first time I have thought about this. I have just been watching a lot of rust belt movies lately and am not really excited to go back to Cleveland in a few days and see all of the cheap ways the strong, rustic charm of the city has been ripped out to make it look "nicer."

This is no accident. The groups behind age-verification laws have been explicit that they regard "gender ideology" and nearly any representation of LGBTQ+ existence as pornography AV is government censorship. Platforms are either designating LGBTQ+ content NSFW or removing it all together.
The world hates people who are "genres." Solidarity between fat women and trans women should be second nature, so it has been really heartwarming to get messages about that part of this episode. DUMPLIN' is just a damn good teen movie that spins a lot of plates pretty effortlessly.
