Researching stuff for an upcoming series on the site and 20 years ago a player making $8 million a year was a cap-crippling contract for an NBA team. That's barely over half the MLE now.
I love the Blazers' schedule for me, personally. They open and close the season at home, no game the night of the trade deadline, no 7-game road trips this year. Only thing I don't like is they play the Thursday night leading into All-Star. (This is entirely about my own selfish logistical concerns)

The Board of Governors approved the Celtics sale today that was agreed to in March. If that timeline holds, it's possible the Blazers sale could get approved around the All-Star break. But these things are fluid. Lakers sale agreement from June hasn't been approved yet.

For what it's worth, the Hurricanes had missed the playoffs nine straight years before Tom Dundon bought the team. Since then, they made the playoffs 7 of 8 years, made the second round 6 times and conference finals 3 times.
