I like scrooge mcduck's extra inner beak there. Really thought provoking.

I literally just aquired this game to try it because the art was so good in the screenshots.

Are those not the same guy? I agree people may be jumping to 'obviously AI' pretty quickly on his tackier recent works, but then I looked closer at that one of the Frozen character sitting in a library. Woof.

I wonder if people are going to turn on this the same way they turned on the corporate bubble people style.

Thanks for the link. So according to this there was no mandate to secrecy and no restrictions on content after all. If this is accurate I guess it's fine and this Taylor Lorenz character is some kind of villain. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Nice Watto still has a gambling problem but it's mostly just when he plays holochess which he always loses at. His friends let him win sometimes but he always uses the money to buy celebration drinks for everyone afterwards.

This is nice Watto. He's offering you a fried klatooine paddy frog leg because you look hungry. How nice.

Once you get the hang of it, and set your feed so it ONLY shows subreddits you are following it's not terrible.
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
Reddit is tricky because you have to pick the right subs and you have to follow a particular ill-defined draconian etiquette in most areas of the site. Self promotion is often verboten so really look at those rules.

www.wired.com/story/dark-m... making me actually do the reading haha. I still stand by my slight hyperbole. If chorus didn't actually specify what they were allowed to talk about I'm sure they were planning to considering all the other restrictions in place. HIGH control. Shady as hell.
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
maybe that one creator didn't get paid that week. Who knows. It's undisclosed funding. all anyone can do is speculate until they make it more transparent what the terms of their deals were. Considering the typical big dem stance on Gaza I still don't think it's a stretch.

Like with anything in a learning environment clear boundaries are critical. Phones are just one part of kids not being able to stay on task. Seating arrangements are actually a bigger influence than you'd expect. I could go on.
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
In my experience it's important to make sure the kid puts their phone in the phone jail bin themselves. Let them have some agency over relinquishing it opposed to snatching it away from them. Phone jail stays in plain sight at the front of class. We all follow the rules we agreed on at year start.
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
That fascinating homeschooled guy who was crashing out blocked me for some reason. Are we talking about the standard 'no phones during class' rule or something new and weirder? Am I off base?
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
Waitwaitwait hold yer dang horses. Were you homeschooled your entire childhood or just part? Have you spent any time in a modern classroom? Have you tried teaching anything to a room full of kids/teens?
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
Even if I know in my head that they are doing a bit, this kind of attention from a partner still absolutely works on me.
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
It's possible they were tracing AI renders or something. I just take issue with people prematurely going "I knew it!" when they still aren't actually sure. Even if it's trash.
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
One issue I recall from the forum days was image hosting. So much lost media with dead photobucket links as the headstones.
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
Like it's possible the shots in the trailer are still all hand-done right? In which case criticizing how the trailer looks is throwing weird ugly (but real) animation under the bus. Am I just being fully tricked here? I thought I had a good eye for it up till now. It's pissing me off.
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
That's objectively one of the most braindead AI studio rote statements I've read in a while, and I don't trust them. The trailer seemed weird, the main guy isn't expressive at all, but even looking at it now, I'm not seeing the AI. I wonder if people might be going 'lol ugly' prematurely.
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent

Once again I'm insisting for everyone: draw something badly. Make it suck on purpose. You don't even have to share it. Have a bad idea and draw it crappily right now. I'll start:
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
One of the only things I remember from Kingdom Come is Shazam using this technique to beat up superman. Just repeatedly activating his transformation lightning.
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
If it's an unexpected ability it should be revealed via flipping a card dramatically. Its a lot less fun when it's just a guy pointing at a rule in his tome that you didn't pay $20 for and saying 'this paragraph says I win and you lose'.
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
There was a really cool looking puzzle and dragon tcg that I don't think ever left japan. It looked like it had some kind of match 3 mechanic with card stacking.
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent

Suspension of disbelief is audience participation. By giving the story your trust you are rendering and making the magic happen yourself and that is beautiful.
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
I'll say it forever. Being able to initiate suspension of disbelief will always be worth more than any billion dollar CG hyper-realistic facsimile. Just look at this crowd. They will never forget this match. Kudos to @dabryceisright.bsky.social www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cslu...

There are plenty of powerful, well loved artists that can't draw/refuse to draw well. If you focus on and expressing what you love and/or what you are good at and let that shine through, you can get pretty far with stick figures.

scrubbing through the writer's twitter right now, mostly generic innocuous fanboy stuff you'd expect from a comic writer, but every once in a while there's a retweet that smacks of "anti-woke" brainworms.

Kurt Vonnegut’s definition of what makes something “art” is one of my favorites I’ve seen - from a letter to his brother in 1995.
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
The main thing I've developed though is an absolute loathing for Al Simmons as a character. He's a perpetually whining abusive moron, and it's established that Spawn can function just fine without him. Better even. So why do we need this asshole?
HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org)
Spawn update. I'm on issue 167, where they've switched to Brian Haberlin and some of the most unbearable 3d porn comic bullshit I've ever seen. I now have a lot of opinions about spawn, which narratively is kind of a moving target. The plot doubles back on itself constantly but occasionally slaps.

HuMaNPeRSoN (@hmnprsn.org) reply parent
I watched all of it recently. The best parts of it are when it's just sharpe vs the British aristocracy etc. but that just doesn't happen often enough. Sharpe's Regiment was my favorite since it's ONLY that.
