LLMs are not a research or writing tool, full stop. It cannot be trusted to generate true information. To the extent that it shows its sources and you can check them, it's just adding another layer of work on top of using a search engine. The primary use people are selling is openly fraudulent.

This is what I was telling my students--we need to understand "AI" especially LLMs these men sell and profit from, in its political context. We cannot divorce discussions of the ethics of using their particular LLMs without engaging with how these men are tearing apart the world and consuming it.
