Going through some old printed literature and found this tour guide for the Myoryuji Temple in Kanazawa – we visited in May 2017. A fascinating structure in that it looks like a temple but was a defensive fortress. Hidden rooms, trapdoors and secret tunnels etc.

Cue robot tax havens. Manufacturing would move to the lowest taxing country that is a feasible manufacturing base. Yep, taxing those other things would help avoid this.

A combination as there has been an increase in the number of mandatory services councils have to carry out, whilst getting reduced funding. It’s difficult to balance this with cuts to non-mandatory services.
Ian Halstead イアン・ハルステッド (@ianhalst.bsky.social) reply parent
The off-loading of government expenditure onto councils has been one of the cruelest tricks perpetrated by the unnecessary austerity experiment. Brilliantly and horrendously cynical.

Labour, as presently constituted, have become the thing they once decried. Economic ‘rigour’ over people, knee-jerkism over cogent arguments and judgementalism over empathy. Their Overton Window has become a narrow slit firing barbs and arrows, far from the welcoming gateway it once was.
