I had a conversation yesterday with a couple of friends who traditionally have supported the Tories and read The Times. I was truly amazed when they started talking about how, if Farage were to get into power, he would sort out the country’s problems.
I know now, with just under 4 years to the next UK general election, that I will not vote Labour regardless of what they may or may not do in the meantime. Their total inaction on the appalling situation in Gaza is staggering.
Who is driving UK Government policy? I ask because rather than getting a Government working in the best interests of the people we seem to have one that is continuing to work in the interests of the elite and big business. I thought we had voted out the Tories, maybe I was wrong?

In the private sector people have a choice as to who they want to supply a service. With water we have no choice. The suppliers know this and can therefore do as they please and boy don’t they do just that. Nationalising the water companies will not make matters worse.
We don’t want to nationalise the water companies as we might upset a few mega rich people. Government’s will continue to ignore the ‘will of the people’ except where they can convince them to go along with what whatever the rich want.

Just back in the UK after 2 weeks in France. What a contrast. In France you see very few obese / overweight people. They don’t walk round with big cups of coffee. You don’t see them using mobile phones in restaurants and on public transport. They buy fresh foods at the local markets.
Mid-terms? I suspect that there may well be a ‘crisis’ and the mid-terms won’t happen.

You have to be a limited company to pay dividends to share holders. The Ltd co, being a legal entity, pays corporation tax, not the shareholders. So you don’t actually pay tax twice.

I had two emails today from Microsoft. The first tells me that my office365 subscription is going from £60 to £85 per annum. The second, not long after, that my subscription was due for renewal. 41% increase, really?
In the UK we had Brexit, a close result 51-49, but you’d be forgiven for thinking that the whole of the UK had voted for it. 5 years on, even though it’s not delivering the promises made by vote leave, only a few of the 51% are able to admit that they might just have got it wrong.
I agree Zelenskyy should not apologise. Why should we pander to bullies. It is about time our leaders called out Trump and Vance for what they are. It’s going to be hard but we need to distance ourselves from these two bullies.
