I’m depressed that so many people here don’t seem to understand the point of this “strongly worded letter.” OF COURSE Trump/Republicans won’t budge on most of this stuff. Schumer/Jeffries know that. This is no longer about avoiding a shutdown but about making sure the public knows who to blame.

I had this exact same experience this morning. Same reporter as Heidi. This is *not* normal. I have spoken to the press on these issues for two decades. No government official has ever demanded to know my identity in order to give a comment on a story.

Sometimes you communicate with people who won’t vote for you to make them less likely to vote. Any time a person who is Repub vs no vote chooses to not vote it’s like gaining a half vote for yourself.

Top *eight* articles on NYT devoted to Charlie Kirk, top one asks if he will be remembered like MLK. This is a man who only a tiny percent of Americans had even heard of before his death, whose views are too nasty for NYT to detail. But they are trying so hard to turn into martyr.
