It’s sad that the discussion around pornography is always framed as “it’s potentially harmful.” It’s also potentially healthy? What did you learn about yourself, your body, your gender, your preferences, your boundaries and your self expression through the smut you consume?
I will admit I have seen some things that cross lines on here and other places. That being said, I'd rather an accepting space that screws up than a hellscape where abuse is kept hidden away.
One thing I think people struggle with is the proximity to harm. Everyone struggles when there are not nice neat lines,at least at first. This isn't a reason to be an asshole of course.
I'd be interested to see if there is nonbiased research into this by sexologists and psychologists. I recognise that medical institutions can be monsters just as much as any authority but I trust that there are at least some researchers who have the intellectual integrity to try and study this.
