I keep running into that problem doing things for my mother. She’s in a dementia care home, so doesn’t have any of that stuff.

Anyway, we made it through this round, and she’s back in her safe place.
I think it’s hard to have the time for the advocacy if you’re struggling to make a living. I’m lucky enough to have the time, and am articulate, but probably not pushy enough, so I fail and let my parents down.
It’s so much better for her to be on familiar ground with familiar people around her.
A system that only works for the vocal and affluent?
We have those, but it doesn’t help if you can’t get the people with information to talk to you.

I just phoned the care home and the doctor treating my mother had rung them — I can’t get past the clerical staff. I’m gad they’re liaising with the care home, but families matter too!
The information is still a bit thin, but it seems she’s nearly ready to leave, so that’s good.
I did the battery replacement on my previous laptop myself, but they did do it for my phone.
They’ll mend it if I give them lots of money.
Mine’s a screen problem, so I hope they’re as helpful (actually, I don’t doubt their ability to change the screen, but I’m really hoping they’ll admit it was their fault it failed, and not charge me lots of money).

Good grief! My mother was in someone else’s bed once when I visited, but just because she’d gone into the wrong room.

I think they’d work with cheese. But if you eat jam, that might be easier.
They were good, but you probably don’t need 17 lbs of them. They’re good with cold meat or pork pie.

Thank you. I do at least think she’s getting the treatment she needs (apart from telling them she doesn’t need the pills because there’s nothing wrong with her, and sending the physio away for asking personal questions).
Ugh. The systems are so unfriendly!
Last time I did that, I got "doctor’s busy, try later,” then, “doctor’s left — I’ll ask them to phone you.” Then the doctor phoned my brother instead of me. I finally got to talk to a junior doctor who said my mother’s sudden onset dementia was caused by “cognitive decline.” Very helpful.
I’m putting together snippets of information with odd bits and pieces from previous events. It’s frustrating that there isn’t one person in charge of overseeing her care, and most of the people involved can’t be contacted.

Why is it so hard to get information out of the NHS? My mother (who has dementia) is in hospital, and I can’t even get enough information to know the right questions to ask. It’s only because the nurse told me my mother doesn’t want to take her tablets that I even know what they’re giving her.
