So I live in Des Moines, which is not only dead in the center of Iowa, it’s on a line east-west between Chicago and Denver and north-south between Minneapolis and Kansas City, AND it’s the state capital, and yet the closest Amtrak station is in Ottumwa, which is 75 miles away.
