I was a consulting producer on one of Graham Greene’s films a few years ago and I got the chance to host a panel he was on and hang in his orbit for a weekend. Like any great Native uncle, he was very grumpy and deeply hilarious! RIP to a true dang legend of Native cinema.

Fango is sad to hear the news of Scott Spiegel's passing. Spiegel, a lifelong friend and collaborator of Sam Raimi, co-wrote EVIL DEAD 2 and wrote/directed the 1989 slasher INTRUDER in addition to his many film credits.
One of the great character actors. The screen always lit up when he walked on. There was a kindness about him mixed with humor that you can't fake. Just one of those greats who always made every film or TV show he was in better.
RIP Graham Greene. Going to finally watch CLEARCUT in memoriam. Recently saw him in THUNDERHEART where he expectedly ruled. Hell, I might even revisit THE GREEN MILE. What a presence any time he showed up.

a pretty good summary of the 21st century is that the humiliation of america's defeats in the middle east post-9/11 curdled into a reactionary politics that seeks affirmation in the humiliation of anyone who is an other: liberals, minorities, the global south, china, europe, whoever.
Can't afford to care for your kids; can't afford to care for your parents; can't afford to care for yourself—America makes it hard to care for each other, yet we have unlimited opportunity to be selfish or cruel. Demand a system with less friction and bullshit—it's "unrealistic" or "impractical."
